The West Virginia Workers’ Compensation Association offers a unique forum for members. Only as a group can employers initiate input, change, and reform to the states workers’ compensation laws and rules. Through the Association, companies are assured a voice for positive change and reform.

Many employers now see West Virginia as a stable workers’ compensation state. This has not always been the case. Our work and effort in 2003 reformed the workers’ compensation program which has provided a more stable and equitable program for both employees and employers. This work is not done; it is an ongoing effort to keep the legislators educated on the need to maintain the system that has been put in place. Your support in this organization ensures that your interests are protected and that you have a voice in how workers’ compensation issues are addressed in West Virginia.

  • Membership in WVWCA is open to qualified self-insured and insured employers and government agencies.

WVWCA Member Benefits

We have participated in all workers’ compensation reforms and remained fully engaged in maintaining a fair and balanced workers’ compensation system since West Virginia’s successful transition to a fully private competitive workers’ compensation insurance market. We remain the major employer participant in the workers’ compensation rule-making process before the Offices of the West Virginia Insurance Commissioner and the Workers’ Compensation Industrial Council.

  • We frequently prepare written and oral comments on impactful cases and proposed rules.

  • We play a major role in evaluating proposed workers’ compensation legislation and providing our Members with timely expert analysis of the potential impacts.

  • We promote appropriate policy positions supporting or opposing proposed legislation.

  • We provide support, comment, and negotiation on rules for security requirements for all self-insurers doing business in West Virginia.

  • We promote and develop events such as the annual conference, which serve as a primary vehicle for networking and a platform for the review of best practices that will serve employers in the State of West Virginia.
